The Best Cupcake Recipe is From Magnolia Bakery

When I was searching for the best cupcake recipe for my daughters birthday party I thought I'd find a handful of different versions of some textbook cupcake that I could dolly up and make pretty. I was going out of my way to even look for a recipe, it would have been far easier to grab a premix at the grocery store. But given the importance of a little girls birthday party the search went on for the best cupcake recipe. Never would I have imagined the 100's of different recipes, frosting, decorations and the craziness surrounding this baby cake phenomenon.

Which rock had I been hiding under? All of a sudden we've gone from enjoying the humble slice of carrot cake with cream cheese icing to these amazing designer cupcakes with unimaginable flavors, designs, swirls and sprinkles and names like 'Red Velvet'.

So after a little more research of this delectable gem I stumbled across what I guess you could call a branded or trademark cupcake called Magnolia Bakery which is located in New York. There is a huge amount of hype over this particular cupcake so what better place to start than the Magnolia Bakery vanilla cupcake recipe. This really was my first attempt at making cupcakes and I'm delighted that this recipe is the one I set my benchmark with.

My vanilla cupcakes turned out light and fluffy, golden and tasting perfect especially accompanied with a huge swirl of butter cream frosting, oh and don't forget the sprinkles. This cupcake was delicious with the right texture, appearance and taste. The compliments and request for more at my daughters birthday is a testament to this little beauty.

There are literally hundreds of books available on baking a sumptuous cupcake, I do own a few myself. However, I declare that none have come close to the success I have when using the best cupcake recipe from Magnolia Bakery. It is truly worth the effort.

Fun Breakfast Recipe - Bubble Loaf

This breakfast recipe is gooey but tasty and can be a lot of fun to make. It was always a challenge for mom to keep us from picking, prodding, and poking at this fun breakfast treat while the bread dough was rising. And even more of a challenge to keep us from burning our hands and mouths on it after this sticky, gooey treat came out of the oven. It gets its name from the fact that the pieces you put into it look like bubbles. It is a good recipe to make for brunch since the dough takes some time to rise.

Bubble Loaf

2 loaves partially frozen bread dough
1/2 cup sugar
2 teaspoons cinnamon
1 package butterscotch pudding
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup butter

Mix together the sugar and cinnamon in a small bowl and set aside. Mix together the butterscotch pudding and brown sugar and set aside. Cut each loaf into 2 pieces. Cut 2 pieces lengthwise again. Cut each strip into small pieces. Roll each piece into the sugar and cinnamon mixture. Pile (toss, throw - this is where it can get fun) all of these pieces into a well-greased bundt or solid tube pan. After all pieces are in the pan, take the butterscotch pudding and brown sugar mixture and sprinkle it over the bread dough pieces. Melt the butter and drizzle over the bread dough, pudding, and sugar mixture. Cover the pan with wax paper and a towel and let rise for 1 1/2 hours. Bake at 350 degrees for 25 to 30 minutes. Allow to cool for a while, turn over pan, and shake the bread out.

For making this into a quicker breakfast recipe: If you don't want to have to wait for it to rise, substitute 3 cans of buttermilk biscuits (10 to a can) for the bread dough. You'll also need to increase the cooking time to 30 to 35 minutes.

Kids can have fun helping with this breakfast recipe. Even really little ones can have fun rolling the pieces in the cinnamon and sugar and tossing them into the pan. Hopefully most of them will hit the pan! You can also make it into a race; who can roll the most pieces. And for little ones learning to count, you can make it a learning experience by counting the number of pieces you put into the pan.

A Recipe and Brief History of Bangers and Mash

Bangers and mash has been a staple of British cuisine for centuries. Bangers (sausages) can be made from either pork or beef and the seasonings used vary depending on the region and the particular recipe. No matter what spices are used, bangers and mash is one of the United Kingdom's most popular meals and is universally loved for its great taste, cheap price, and ease of preparation.

Bangers and mash is the quintessential British pub food. The term "bangers" was given to the sausages because they have a habit of exploding when cooked over high heat. "Mash" is simply a shortened version of mashed potatoes. The bangers are best served fried and placed atop a pile of mashed potatoes and smothered in onion gravy. For this recipe you will need the following cookware and ingredients.

6 sausages (Pork, beef, or veggie)
6 large potatoes, peeled and quartered
2 tablespoons butter
1/2 cup milk
2 white onions, sliced
1 tablespoon cooking oil
1 beef bouillon cube, dissolved in 400 ml of water (Beef base)
Worcestershire sauce
Frying pan

First boil the quartered potatoes until they are soft enough to be easily mashed. Then take the cooked potatoes and mash them and mix with milk, butter, and salt until they are nicely whipped. Then set them aside, but keep them warm.

Next, place the bangers in a large frying pan and cook them on medium heat. Be sure to turn them frequently, so that they brown equally on all sides. Place the cooked bangers on a paper towel to drain the excess grease.

To make the gravy, first combine the cooking oil and sliced onions in the same frying pan used for the bangers and sauté them until they are soft and browned. Add the hot beef base to the onions and stir until mixed. Add a dash of Worcestershire sauce and salt and pepper to taste.

Serve the sausages over mash potatoes and smother them with the onion gravy. This meal is best enjoyed with a pint of your favorite English or Irish ale.

2 cups shredded skinless chicken meat
2 medium green onions
1 finely chopped pickled jalapeno chili
